$10,000 Bail Set For Man Charged With Having Pounds Of Marijuana

BRAINTREE, MA — A Boston man was arraigned in Quincy District Court on Thursday after Braintree police said they seized more than 50 pounds of marijuana at raids in Braintree, Quincy, and Westford.

Xu Feng Wang, 30, was charged with trafficking more than 50 pounds, but less than 100 pounds of marijuana and conspiracy to violate drug laws. Bail was set at $10,000, the Patriot Ledger reported. Wang is scheduled back in court on Feb. 22.

According to Braintree Police, the raids were the result of four executed search warrants at homes at 350 Shaw Street in Braintree, 360 Belmont Street in Quincy, 16 Newport Terrace in Quincy, and 75 Tenney Road in Westford. Police said the initial lead, from December, was just about the Braintree house, but found information about the other three houses during the investigation.

In a press release, Braintree police said that although recreational marijuana is legal in Massachusetts, unregulated operations have serious health risks to the community.
"Dangerous chemicals and faulty wiring are often used to set up these sites and most often the homes are not lived in," police said in the release. "Additionally they create a prime atmosphere for black mold to form and flourish."

A 48-old-year-old man and 23-year-old woman, both of Quincy, will also face marijuana trafficking charges, but police have not released the other suspects' identities yet.
