2 Businesses Will Replace Braintree Barnes & Noble
Stonegate Group of Natick says it will purchase the Granite Street building and divide it into two businesses.

BRAINTREE, MA — Two businesses will open at the home of the Braintree Barnes & Noble Store, according to a spokesperson from Stonegate Group of Natick, the company finalizing the purchase of the building at 150 Granite Street.
Once Barnes & Noble moves out of the 19,661-square-foot building, Stonegate says it will divide the space. Stonegate did not say what businesses will take the book store's place.
"Conveniently located adjacent to Interstate 93, the retail space sits across from South Shore Plaza and has been home to Barnes & Noble for twenty-eight years," a Stonegate spokesperson said Thursday. "The bookstore is a popular local landmark, and Stonegate had expressed their hope that the bookstore owner would consider remaining at the property. The tenant declined, however, and will be vacating the space at the end of the lease on May 31st of this year."

The Barnes & Noble store narrowly avoided closure two years ago, but instead will look for a new spot in the Braintree area, following a lease disagreement.
"We are to open a new bookstore in close proximity and will announce the location shortly," a company statement read. "All booksellers at Braintree have been offered positions in other Barnes & Noble stores and look forward to welcoming you back to their new bookstore in due course."
