Abington Holding Vigil For Zaccardi Family

Abington will celebrate the lives of a mother and three children who were killed last week in what police believe was a murder-suicide.

ABINGTON, MA — The Abington community will come together for a vigil to celebrate the lives of a mother and three children who were killed last week in what police believe was a murder-suicide.

Deirdre Zaccardi, 40, and her children, Alexis Zaccardi, 11, and twins Nathaniel and Kathryn Zaccardi, 9, all died after Joseph Zaccardi, 43, shot them before taking his life, according to authorities. Police found all four bodies at the family's Centre Avenue home last Monday.

Following their deaths, the community rallied around the Zaccardi's extended family. Town residents wore green, which is the color of Abington's schools, and created a memorial outside the family's condominium. A sign reading "Abington 1 Town 1 Family" was put ip on Centre Avenue outside of D'Anne's Restaurant.
