Braintree Awarded $102K Grant To Combat Climate Change
The grant was part of a $4 million package statewide to prepare for storm surges, flooding, erosion and rising sea levels.
BRAINTREE, MA — Gov. Charlie Baker announced Braintree received a grant worth more than $102,000 to combat the effects of coastal storms and climate change.
The grant, funded by the Office of Coastal Zone Management, was part of a $4 million package statewide to prepare for storm surges, flooding, erosion and rising sea levels.
"Massachusetts' coastal communities coast face increasing damages from increasingly severe storms, sea level rise and erosion," Baker said in a statement. "As we celebrate Climate Week in Massachusetts, we're proud to support local efforts to protect residents, businesses and infrastructure from climate change impacts."

Braintree's $102,329 grant will be used at Watson Park. Town officials are expected to complete environmental permitting and develop final construction drawings and bid documents for a series of green infrastructure designs to mitigate erosion and flooding at Watson Park, including salt marsh restoration, coastal bank stabilization, earthen berms and stormwater management.
