Braintree Awarded Grant, Approved For Loan By MA Clean Water Trust

A $10 million loan was approved for the Tri-Town Regional Water Treatment Plant, and the town will receive a $102,000 grant.

BRAINTREE, MA — Braintree was approved for one loan and one grant from the Massachusetts Clean Water Trust’s Board of Trustees at its Wednesday meeting.

The Tri-Town Water Plant was approved for a $10,000,000 loan from the Trust. This plant will provide over 12 million gallons of water per day for Braintree, Randolph and Holbrook.

Braintree was also awarded a $102,000 asset management planning grant.

According to a news release, the Trust approved $88,656,780 in new low-interest loans and grants at its meeting on Wednesday.

The Trust, in collaboration with the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP), "helps communities build or replace water infrastructure that enhances ground and surface water resources, ensures the safety of drinking water, protects public health and develops resilient communities," according to officials.

It accomplishes these objectives by providing low-interest loans and grants to cities, towns and water utilities through the Massachusetts State Revolving Funds.
