Braintree Coronavirus: Mayor Trying To Postpone Special Election
To re-schedule an election, it would require state legislative action or court intervention, Mayor Kokoros said.

BRAINTREE, MA — Mayor Charles Kokoros has taken steps to postpone the special election for the proposed debt exclusion to lessen the spread of the new coronavirus. As of Tuesday morning, the election to decide on $63 debt exclusion to pay for a new South Middle school is scheduled for March 28.
To re-schedule an election, it would require state legislative action or court intervention, Kokoros said.
"While the state considers the filing of special legislation, I have instructed the town solicitor to file a complaint seeking the necessary court order to allow for a postponement of the special election," Kokoros said in a statement. "These steps are being taken to preserve your right to vote on these important issues and ensure fair and equal access to the polls for all."
