Braintree Dealer Only One Around With New Electric Car

Chevrolet's famous electric car – the Volt – was recently made available throughout the country after an initially limited debut, and in Massachusetts the only place consumers can pick one up for now is in Braintree.

, on Quincy Avenue, has the 150-horsepower sedans available. They can travel 35 miles on a 16-kWh lithium-ion battery, and have a backup gas-powered generator, expanding the capacity of the Volt to 407 miles, according to a Chevy press release.

Further increasing the car's efficiency is an aerodynamic body, a closed grille and Goodyear Assurance Fuel Max tires. The Volt's batteries, good for 10 years in the car, may also be useful afterward as a potential source of backup power for neighborhoods.

"The Volt is a game-changing vehicle, and it's great to finally have it in our showroom," Haykel Ammari, general manager of Quirk Chevy said in a statement. "This is a very big moment for us and for Massachusetts car buyers, who have always been a progressive group when it comes to looking into hybrid and electric vehicles. Our Greater Boston Chevy customers now have a chance to test-drive the next generation of automotive innovation."
