Braintree Food Pantry Open To Federal Workers During Shutdown

"We are here for one another during difficult times," Mayor Joseph Sullivan said.

BRAINTREE, MA — The local food pantry has extended a hand to help unpaid federal employees living in Braintree who've been affected by the government shutdown.

The food pantry, Marge Crispin Center is now open to federal employees who have either been furloughed or are working without pay, Mayor Joseph Sullivan announced on Wednesday. With the shutdown in its second month, federal workers will miss a second bi-weekly paycheck on Friday.

“The dedicated federal employees affected by the shutdown are our neighbors, our friends, and in many cases our family,” said Sullivan. “We are here for one another during difficult times. I want to thank the team at the Marge Crispin Center led by Ann Toland and Pat Conrad for all of their efforts in organizing this needed assistance.”
