BRAINTREE, MA – The Braintree High School Class of 2020 took to the streets on Saturday, to celebrate their graduation in a unique way: a rolling graduation parade complete with signs, balloons and lots of cheers.

An in-person ceremony was scheduled for July 30 but school officials planned a car parade for 9 a.m., Saturday to allow students to celebrate on their original graduation day despite precautions in place due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The parade started at the RMV, and in their own cars, students made their way past town hall and then to John W. LeRoy Jr. Access Road.

Students then drive to specific locations at the high school to receive their diplomas and congratulations from school officials, and to have their photos taken.

Educators from the Braintree school system gathered along the parade route to cheer on the graduates, including a group of staff from Hollis Elementary School, who held congratulatory signs that read, "Honk for Hollis: Forever a Hawk," and "Hawks Always Remember to: Play Hard, Play Fair, Play Safe."
