Braintree Man Charged With Attempting To Rob Dorchester Store

DORCHESTER, MA — A Braintree man faces charges after allegedly attempting to rob a check cashing store in Dorchester.

John Mikalauskis Jr., 19, was arrested last Wednesday and charged with armed robbery.

At about 5:35 p.m., officers responded to a report of a robbery in progress at PLS Check Cashing on Massachusetts Avenue, according to the Boston Globe. Police were told that a man approached the counter with a knife and passed a note stating that he had a gun and was robbing the store. The suspect, later identified as Mikalauskis, fled the store after he dropped the knife and was pepper sprayed by a witness.

Mikalauskis was located hiding behind a vehicle on Roseclair Street. His face was red, swollen and smelled of pepper spray, according to police.

Mikalauskis was taken into custody without incident.
