Braintree OUI Results In Serious Injuries, Arrest: State Police

A Weymouth man was arrested and another seriously injured in the I-93 crash.

BRAINTREE, MA — A Weymouth man was arrested for OUI following a four-car crash on 93 South that left his passenger with serious injuries.

State Police responded to the crash at Exit 6 shortly after midnight Saturday. They arrested 25-year-old Randall Barbosa, who they said had been driving a 2008 BMW M5 when he tried to merge onto 93 South from Route 3 North at a high rate of speed.

The BMW rear-ended a 1997 Lexus ES300, which was merging into the left lane, then struck a 2006 Toyota Sequoia, which then struck a 2015 Toyota Camry.

The BMW's passenger, a 25-year-old Weymouth man, was taken to Boston Medical Center with serious injuries. A passenger in the Lexus, a 20-year-old Lynn man, was taken to South Shore Hospital with minor injuries.

Barbosa was arrested for OUI of liquor causing serious injuries and negligent operation of a motor vehicle. He was also cited for speeding. Barbosa will be arraigned in Quincy District Court Monday.
