Braintree PD Secures Arrest Warrant For AMC Theater Stabbing Suspect

Jared Ravizza faces four charges of assault to murder stemming from the stabbing of four girls at the Braintree movie theater.

BRAINTREE, MA — After the man accused of stabbing four girls at a Braintree movie theater was apprehended on Saturday night, Braintree police secured an arrest warrant for him.

The news of the Braintree warrant comes on Tuesday afternoon after Jared Ravizza, 26, is already in custody on charges stemming from another stabbing at McDonald's in Plymouth.

Ravizza faces four charges each of attempt to murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon in Braintree. He will be arraigned in Quincy District Court at a later time, police said.

The theater stabbing happened first, around 6 p.m., when Ravizza entered AMC Braintree 10 in the 100 block of Grandview Avenue, passed the ticket counter, went into one of the theaters without paying and stabbed the four girls, unprovoked and without warning, police said. He then fled the theater in a black SUV, according to police.

The girls, ages 9 to 17, suffered injuries that were not life-threatening and were taken to hospitals for treatment, police said.

Braintree police on Tuesday said the four victims are "improving and healing."

"This crime appears to be completely senseless and random, perpetrated against entirely defenseless, innocent children," police said.

"We would like to call attention to the bravery displayed by these four young women, both in the aftermath of the incident and in their recovery. Each victim is improving and healing, and our thoughts and support are with them as they navigate this difficult time."

Plymouth Stabbing

Around 7 p.m., Ravizza approached the drive-thru window of a McDonald’s at the Exit 13 rest area off Route 3 in Plymouth and, following a dispute over payment, stabbed two workers and fled south on Route 3, according to police.

Surveillance video of the restaurant showed that Ravizza stabbed a male victim with a large knife through the drive-thru window, then parked his car and went inside before stabbing a female victim, the district attorney's office said. The employees, both in their 20s, suffered injuries that did not threaten their lives and were brought to hospitals, according to police.

After Ravizza fled the rest stop, state troopers tried to pull over his SUV, but it did not stop and instead crashed, according to police. He was driving a 2018 Porsche Macan and was taken into custody around 7:15 p.m. in Sandwich, the district attorney's office said.

He faces charges including assault with intent to murder and two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, according to the district attorney's office.

Deep River Investigation

Both WFXT and WBTS cited a law enforcement source or sources in naming the attacker and reported that Ravizza is also tied to a death investigation in Deep River, Connecticut.

The Connecticut incident happened earlier Saturday, with police responding to a Deep River address and finding a dead body around 3:30 p.m., according to authorities, who said a person was taken into custody in Masschusetts in connection with the fatality.
