We asked Patch readers what they thought the biggest safety issues were in their town. Here’s a list of the most pressing problems, from break-ins to traffic jams:
- "Massachusetts needs to push for lane splitting to be made legal, as it is in California and most of Europe."
- "The intersection of Pearl Street and Ivory Street. We need left turn arrows."
- "Drivers speeding as they come off 37 onto residential streets. Kids are out playing and despite signs being posted, drivers continue to accelerate while putting people/children at risk."
- "No green arrow light at the Liberty St/Union St intersection. I've seen a ton off accidents and 5x as many near misses!"
- "Pedestrian access in multiple areas, especially with the amount of people texting and driving. Pedestrians need to be safe!"
- "Very few people seem to realize that people in the rotary have the right of way. All too often, the drivers trying to get into the rotary just merge without even looking at the oncoming traffic."
- "Serious crimes related to the economy."
- "The South Shore Plaza and Motel 6 are the biggest safety issues in Braintree. Stores Ave traffic light that hundreds of people have complained about thousands of times to no avail is right up there."
- "A better visual of crosswalks, especially the two pedestrian crosswalks on Grove St near SS. There also needs to be a green arrow to take a left onto Liberty St from Grove St."
- "Left hand turns from Ivory to Pearl. Despite my emails to the town my cries have gone unanswered. Thinking it will take a fatal crash for it to change unfortunately."
