Participants run in support of friends, family and neighbors living with mental illness or addiction.
From Interfaith Social Services:More than 500 supporters came out on Saturday, April 28, for Interfaith Social Services’ Stop the Stigma 5K, a record for the 44thannual event. The race, held each spring at the Kennedy Center in North Quincy, gets families and individuals running and walking on a scenic race route through Quincy’s Squantum neighborhood and along Boston Harbor.
Participants run in support of friends, family and neighbors living with mental illness or addiction. The event raised more than $40,000 for Interfaith’s programs, including The New Directions Counseling Center. New Directions has been offering compassionate and skilled counseling to the South Shore since 1947. The nonprofit counseling services provide a safety-net ensuring that everyone is able to receive care regardless of their health insurance status or income.
Support from multiple local businesses and individuals help to make the event possible, including backing from platinum-level sponsors Arbella Insurance Foundation, Boston Medical Center HealthNet Plan and DST Systems, Inc.
