Braintree's Grove Manor Estates Reaches out to Community by Sharing Lenten Luncheons

The owner and founder of Grove Manor Estates, Anthony Franchi, recognizes how important religion is for his residents and has provided a chapel in each of its properties including Grove Manor Estates.

During Lent this year, has opened its doors to the neighborhood.

Every Friday during Lent they have hosted a Lenten luncheon to parishes throughout the area. Priests, church organizers and parishioners have all helped make the luncheons a success, by spreading the word.

Each Friday Grove Manor served baked fish, fresh vegetables, rice and garden salad to guests. What a nice way to reach out to the community and do something special for them.

Ron Solomon, the food service director at Grove Manor Estates personally served lunch to each guest. “It feels good to bring people together," he said. “Food tastes better when enjoyed with others.”

Just for this event, a local chocolateer, Gowell’s of Brockton, to create milk chocolate crosses to set at each guest’s place setting. Each cross was tied with a purple ribbon in observance of Lent. This was a nice touch and it highlights the fact that Grove Manor likes to work with other local, small businesses.  Guests were delighted with the Gowell’s chocolate! Several guests took them home to share with grandchildren or to enjoy later.

Over the past several weeks, Grove Manor has hosted more than one hundred guests.

“I like seeing them come through our door and enjoying a nice, healthy lunch, together,” Marketing Director Wendy Wichroski said. “It’s nice to see new relationships form and old friends reunite at these luncheons.

“Even people who belong to the same parish who don’t necessarily know each other that well, will quickly become acquainted after sitting together at the table. It’s really nice to see this sense of community.”

Executive director Paul Cardullo said, “It feels good to give back to the community." He recently met with Father Paul Shugrue from in Braintree. Father Paul (as he likes to be called) was “overjoyed” with the invitation which he extended to his parishioners.
