Braintree Teen Crashes Scooter Through Crime Scene, Hits Cop: BPD

A Braintree teen was arrested after police said he drove his motor scooter through a Boston crime scene and crashed into a police officer.

BRAINTREE, MA — A Braintree teen was arrested after Boston police said he drove his motor scooter through an active crime scene and crashed into a police officer. Police said the crash sent the officer to the hospital.

Giraldy Guerrero, 19, was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery on a police officer, leaving the scene of an accident resulting in personal injury, resisting arrest, trespassing, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and interfering with a police officer.

Just before 10:30 p.m., Saturday, police said they were making an arrest on Washington Street in Dorchester following a shooting. Police said emergency officials were taking a man to the hospital that suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

While officers were guarding the crime scene, police said Guerrero sped toward the yellow police tape and several cruisers with their blue lights on.

Police in a statement said the scene was "completely illuminated to onlookers and passersby."

Police said several officers ordered Guerrero to stop, but he continued driving through several layers of police tape and crashed into an officer.

Guerrero fell off his moped and ran away, police said. Officers eventually caught up to him on Mora Street. Police said there was a brief, but violent struggle before officers were able to detain Guerrero.

Guerrero was scheduled to be arraigned at Dorchester District Court.
