MA Theater Stabbing Victims Describe 'Horror Movie' Encounter

Jared Ravizza faces four charges of assault to murder stemming from the stabbing of four girls at the Braintree movie theater.

BRAINTREE, MA — Four girls who were stabbed at a Braintree movie theater are recovering. Now, a police report details their experience in the theater.

Jared Ravizza, 26, faces four charges each of attempt to murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon in Braintree. He faces additional charges in Plymouth and may be tied to an investigation in Connecticut, too.

The theater stabbing happened first, around 6 p.m., when Ravizza entered AMC Braintree 10 in the 100 block of Grandview Avenue, passed the ticket counter, went into one of the theaters without paying and stabbed the four girls, unprovoked and without warning, police said. He then fled the theater in a black SUV, according to police.

The girls, ages 9 to 17, suffered injuries that were not life-threatening and were taken to hospitals for treatment, police said.

Police reports, first reported on by Boston 25, detail the experience of the victims in the theater who described Ravizza like a horror movie character.

"He had a smile on his face that looked like it was sculpted out of a horror movie, he was freaky, he had wrinkles on his face, his face was so animated, and he laughed like the Joker," one victim said.

Braintree police on Tuesday said the four victims are "improving and healing."

"This crime appears to be completely senseless and random, perpetrated against entirely defenseless, innocent children," police said.

"We would like to call attention to the bravery displayed by these four young women, both in the aftermath of the incident and in their recovery. Each victim is improving and healing, and our thoughts and support are with them as they navigate this difficult time."

Ravizza will be arraigned in Quincy District Court at a later time, police said.

He appeared in Plymouth District Court Tuesday on charges stemming from the McDonald's stabbing including assault with intent to murder and two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, according to the district attorney's office.
