BRAINTREE, MA — Residents who want to vote in the town election still have time to register to vote, but the deadline is fast approaching. Anyone who wants to cast a ballot on Nov. 5 has until Wednesday, Oct. 16 to register to vote.

The Town Clerk's office will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday for anyone who still needs to register.

Braintree's election is guaranteed to bring major shakeups to the town's leadership. Mayor Joseph Sullivan has decided to not seek re-election, meaning Braintree residents will elect their second ever mayor. In September's preliminary election, voters narrowed the field of four candidates to two. District 1 Town Councilor Charles Kokoros and Electric Light Board commissioner Thomas Reynolds Jr. will face off in the mayoral race.

There will also be a lot of turnover on the Town Council. Eight of the council's nine seats will be contested, and five of those seats have open races.
