Braintree Woman Hits $1 Million Lottery Jackpot

BRAINTREE, MA — A local woman hit the jackpot, winning $1 million on the Mass. Lottery's "The Fastest Road to $1 Million" instant game. Dorothy Burke, of Braintree, chose the one-time payment of $650,000 after taxes. Burke said she chose the scratch ticket because it features her favorite color, purple.

Burke bought the winning ticket Saturday, July while getting her morning coffee at the Weymouth Marylou's at 1212 Washington St. The store will receive a $10,000 bonus for its sale of the ticket.

There are still 66 $1 million prizes yet to be claimed in "The Fastest Road to $1 Million" $30 instant game.
