Braintree's Next Police Chief Likely To Be Internal Hire
Outgoing Chief Mark DuBois is set to begin his new role with the Portland Police Department at the end of July.

BRAINTREE, MA — Outgoing Braintree Police Chief Mark DuBois is set to begin his next job in Portland, Maine, at the end of July. So who could replace him?
According to a new report from The Patriot Ledger, it's likely that the hire will be internal. Mayor Charles Kokoros told the paper that internal applications have been sent, are due by July 25 and that he'd like to have someone in place by the time DuBois leaves.
That, of course, will also be contingent upon approval by Braintree's Town Council, who must approve any appointment.

Patch reported in June that Dubois was unanimously approved as the next police chief by the Portland City Council during a recent meeting. This came after Portland City Manager Danielle West announced that she selected Dubois as the city's next police chief.
Dubois has been the chief in Braintree since 2019 and served as chief in Maynard, Mass. for seven years prior. He marks the first permanent chief for Portland since 2021.
