Car Chase Through Braintree Ends with Arrest in Brockton

Julio Monterio of Brockton faces numerous charges including drugged driving, drunken driving, and refusing to stop for police.

BRAINTREE, MA - A Brockton man faces charges after refusing to stop for police and leading officers on a pursuit through the South Shore

Julio Monterio, 28, was arrested Sunday and charged operating under the influence of drugs, operating under the influence of alcohol, negligent operation, failure to stop for police, other motor vehicle offenses, and firearm offenses, according to the Massachusetts State Police.

At around 2:30 a.m., a trooper attempted to stop Monterio’s Infiniti FX35 on Route 93 in Quincy for a motor vehicle violation. Monterio refused to stop, with police chasing the vehicle down Route 3 before stopping the pursuit when the suspect exited the highway in Weymouth.

A short time later, the vehicle was seen by another trooper on Route 93 in Braintree. Again, police terminated the chase when Monterio exited Route 24 in Avon.

State and Brockton police located Monterio in Brockton at about 3:30 a.m and took him into custody. During the arrest, police seized a loaded handgun.
