Hazardous Waste Day in Braintree This Saturday
Again this year is the free prescription take-back program sponsored by the Braintree Health Department.

Saturday, April 27, 2012………9:00 AM-Noon Ivory St. Recycling Center
Whether cleaning up from the long summer or just tackling a basement or garage clean out, getting rid of hazardous waste is a serious environmental problem, and the Town has a solution.
Teaming up with Clean Harbors, Braintree sponsors a spring and fall event that
provides access to environmentally approved disposal for its residents. Most
household, lawn, garden and automobile/boat chemicals are accepted for $10 per every 10 gallons or 10 pounds of material. This includes oil paint (no latex paint – can be dried out and disposed of in the trash), solvents, fertilizers, hobby supplies, poisons, oils, marine chemicals, cleaning fluids and pool chemicals – to name a few.
Also collected, at no cost, are thermostats, fluorescent bulb, thermometers, and button-cell and non-acid batteries (regular alkaline batteries should be disposed of in the trash).
Again this year………..the free prescription take-back program sponsored by the
Braintree Health Department. Dispose of old or unwanted prescriptions. Call (781) 794-8090 for more information. Also, bring new or unused syringes/needles (sharps) to the event for proper, free disposal. All sharps should be transported in a safe, solid container to insure, again, contact the Health Department for more information.
Additional collections of TVs, computer monitors, electronics, ACs and dehumidifiers, along with tires (of all kinds) and car/boat batteries are sponsored by the Friends of Thayer Public Library at very reasonable fees.
If you’d like more information, please call (781) 794-8088.
