Holbrook Man Tied to Braintree Car Break-In, TV Theft Arrested

Braintree police last week arrested on credit card fraud charges a Holbrook man also suspected in a at a Braintree athletic club and a earlier this year.

An employee at at the alerted police last Thursday that Anthony L. Davidson, 26, had used a stolen credit card, Deputy Chief Russell Jenkins said in a statement. The employee said that he recognized Davidson from using a debit card that belonged to a 33-year-old man who told police his car was robbed while parked at the Bayshore Athletic Club on Aug. 20.

Following a subsequent search of Davidson and his black Ford Explorer, he was charged with four counts each of larceny over $250, forgery, passing a forged document and improper use of a credit card and one count of receiving stolen property, Jenkins said.

Davidson also had two outstanding arrest warrants, including one from Braintree, and more charges may be filed surrounding the athletic club car heist after police speak to the owner of the vehicle.

Upon responding to the Zales employee's call, police recognized Davidson immediately, Jenkins said, because they had also seen surveillance pictures shown to store employees following the .

"The officers also observed that Davidson was carrying a small CVS shopping bag that was later found to contain a stolen wallet with the identification, credit cards and other credentials of a forty-one year old Quincy man," Jenkins said. "The bag also contained sales receipts from Macy’s, CVS and Best Buy using the Quincy man’s American Express card, along with some of the property purchased with the stolen credit card."

Officers also found keys to the black Ford Explorer, which contained $1,000 worth of elecctronics bought at using the Quincy man's credit card. Also found were several licenses, gift cards and credit cards police suspected were stolen.

"Zales employees reported that Davidson had an American Express card in his hand and was about to make a purchase, but never completed the transaction," Jenkins said.

In addition, apparently connected to the Aug. 20 athletic club incident, Jenkins said, police found two cut padlocks, clothes matching what Davidson was wearing in the surveillance footage from that crime, a gym bag containing bolt cutters and pliers and a bag of clothing.

The charges, though, were based on "the recovered evidence and property in the CVS bag, including $800 in gift cards from CVS, a pair of Prada sunglasses valued at over $300 and a necklace, both from Macy’s..."

The second suspect in the athletic club case has not been identified, Jenkins said.

Davidson was charged last April after allegedly stealing a 32” Panasonic television from Kmart with another man and taking off in a black Ford Explorer.
