Jury Reaches Murder Conviction In 2022 South Shore Plaza Shooting

A jury has convicted a Maynard man in the 2022 murder of Dijoun Beasley at the Braintree mall.

BRAINTREE, MA — A jury convicted the man at the center of a murder case stemming from the killing of a 26-year-old at South Shore Plaza in 2022.

Julius Hammond-Desir, of Maynard, was 19 at the time of the shooting. This week, a jury convicted him of first-degree murder. He will be sentenced later this week.

Hammond-Desir was accused of shooting Dijoun Beasley, 26, of Boston, in the head near the exit to Forever 21 in the mall on Jan. 22, 2022. Beasley was shopping with his girlfriend, who was pushing a baby in a stroller. He was transported to a Boston hospital where he later died.
