Kyleigh's Cure Road Race to Support Rare Disease Research on June 10, 2012

Kyleigh Lydon is a 7-year-old girl who was diagnosed with Galactosemia as an infant.

Tickets remain available for the second annual Kyleigh's Cure Road Race, to be held in Braintree on June 10, 2012 starting and ending at .

Behind the effort are Braintree police officers Kristine and Sean Lydon, whose daughter Kyleigh has a rare disease that requires more study and funding, so they have dedicated themselves to raising money through the road race and other activities.

When Kyleigh was an infant, she was diagnosed with Galactosemia, which does not allow the 7-year-old to break down a simple sugar called galactose – a key component of milk and other dairy products. As a result, Kyleigh must be kept on a strict diet and her parents often have to hunt down ingredients in products to make sure they do not contain a shred of lactose, which is half galactose.
