Liberty Bay Credit Union, one of the most established credit unions in New England, has hired James Dowling as Vice President and Controller. Mr. Dowling will be responsible for guiding financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures. He will also enforce internal controls, monitor and confirm financial condition by conducting audits as well as providing information to external auditors.

“James brings twelve years of public accounting and banking experience to Liberty Bay Credit Union and we look forward to his contributions,” said Lyndon Matteson, President & CEO, Liberty Bay Credit Union.

Prior to joining Liberty Bay Credit Union, Mr. Dowling was Vice President and Corporate Accounting Officer at the publicly-traded Belmont Savings Bank. He also served as an Audit Manager in the banking practice at Marcum LLP in Boston.

Mr. Dowling received both his Bachelor of Science in Accounting, as well as his Masters of Business Administration from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. Additionally, Dowling is a Certified Public Accountant. He is a volunteer board member and Treasurer of the Board at the Italian Home for Children in Jamaica Plain.
