Local Owner Moves Vacuum Shop to Landing in Braintree
South Shore Vacuum owner Matt DiPerri went to Archbishop Williams High School and then learned vacuum sales in college.
After four years serving the retail and service needs of its customers on Beach Street in Quincy, has relocated to 22 Quincy Ave. in Braintree, a spot in Weymouth Landing that owner Matt DiPerri is excited about both for the drive-by traffic and the improvements slated for the area.
"It's going to be a great location, easy for customers to get to," DiPerri said on Tuesday morning just before a Grand Opening ribbon cutting with Mayor Joseph Sullivan.
After graduating from , DiPerri turned an internship selling vacuums while at Lasell College in Newton into his own business. South Shore Vacuum is a warranty center and offers high-end brands like Electrolux and Dyson.

The store offers residential, commercial and central vacuums, as well as free repair estimates. Eight employees were there now, and DiPerri said he may hire another to work a night shift. For now, before possible expanded holiday hours, the shop is open Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Through this Saturday, Oct. 15, South Shore Vacuum is hosting a free drawing to win an Electrolux stick vacuum.

Improvements to the Landing are now underway in Braintree and Weymouth. They are the and are combined with other initiatives, such as and a facade program in Braintree that DiPerri used to upgrade his signage.
There have been some delays in the beautification program that will improve sidewalks, curbing, stop lights and other parts of the Landing, Sullivan said, because of unexpected underground work problems. But construction will continue at full speed through Thanksgiving, he said, with a shutdown for the winter, after which crews will tackle signal adjustments.
