Lynn Woman Charged with Abusing Quincy Dog

Kitty Barker also faces accusations that she stole from the dog's family.

QUINCY, MA — A Lynn woman stole from a Quincy family and abused the dog she was hired to watch, authorities said.

Thursday, Kitty Barker was charged in Quincy District Court with animal cruelty, larceny, and malicious destruction of property, according to WHDH.

In June, Barker was hired by the Hingston family to watch their 13-year-old dog Sully while they were on vacation. When they returned, they found Sully seriously injured, the house a mess, and several thousands of dollars in money and scratch tickets were missing, Joe Hingston said.

Hingston said his dog is doing better but he is getting unwanted credit card charges because Barker changed his bank account information. He also said that her ID was found in the basement when she had no reason to be down there.

Barker has denied the charges and said she went into the basement because the air conditioner tripped the breaker.
