Man Wanted in West Virginia Homicide Case Arrested in Braintree

Philip Castro was taken into custody by the Braintree Police Department.

A man who is a suspect in a West Virginia homicide case was arrested by Braintree police and the Massachusetts State Police Fugitive Apprehension Unit at the South Shore Plaza Friday.

Philip Casto, 33, of Scott Depot, W. Va., is wanted in connection to a homicide that took place in his home state according to police. He was taken into custody at around 4:30 p.m. after his car was found in the parking garage near Target. Police say he was arrested inside the mall without incident.

On Sept. 10, an apparent homicide was reported in Teays Valley, W. Va. according to WSAZ. The victim, a 27-year-old woman named Jennifer L. Evans, was found dead by her husband.

Shortly after the murder was reported, Casto was named a suspect. He was considered to be armed and dangerous by police in West Virginia.

Casto will face extradition back to West Virginia according to Braintree police and a rendition proceeding will take place on Monday at Quincy District Court.
