The crash killed Michael Wojdag, 46, of Hanson, who was ejected from the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe SUV he was driving when it was struck by the black 2019 Honda Civic driven by Quetant, state police said.

The crash's impact occurred just before 9 p.m., causing both vehicles to go off the right side of the road.

Wojdag was located on the ground near the Tahoe. Braintree Firefighters and EMS took life-saving measures and transported him to South Shore Medical Center in Weymouth, where he was pronounced deceased.

Two passengers in the Tahoe, a 45-year-old woman and a teenage boy, suffered minor injuries and were transported to South Shore Medical Center.

Neither Quetant nor the four passengers in the Civic, who ranged in age from 18 to 20, were injured. Troopers located them standing in the breakdown lane near their crashed vehicle.

The preliminary crash reconstruction indicates that the Civic was traveling at 120 miles per hour in the right lane of I-93 North when it struck the passenger side of the Tahoe, which was traveling at 75 miles per hour in the second lane from the right.

Through their investigation, officials located multiple witnesses who reported separately that they were driving on I-93 North around the time of the crash when two vehicles, one of which they described as a dark or black sedan, drove past them at speeds they believed to be near or over 100 miles per hour.

One of the witnesses identified one of the racing vehicles as a black Honda Civic while another witness, who stopped at the scene of the crash, believed that the Civic that had crashed was one of the cars that sped by him.

When interviewed by Troopers, Quetant made statements regarding the sequence of events related to the crash and the speed he was driving, officials said. These statements were contradicted by witness statements, electronic evidence and physical evidence obtained by investigating troopers.

Following his arrest and booking, Quetant was arraigned Wednesday afternoon in Quincy District Court and ordered held on $25,000 cash bail.

An investigation remains ongoing to identify a second driver, who officials believe was racing Quetant at the time of the crash.
