National Grid Working Over Several Months on Braintree Upgrades

The company said in a recent statement that it will upgrade 1,445 feet of main gas line in Braintree this construction season.

Here in Braintree, like many other towns, residents have likely seen work being done under their roads and .

National Grid, which does the work in Braintree, will upgrade 1,445 feet of main gas line this summer, according to a recent company statement. Overall, throughout Massachusetts, National Grid will put $113 million into replacing 135 miles of line.

The local work began last month and will continue through the end of July. Roads that will be affected include Elmlawn Road, Conrad Street and Edwards Road. It will be done between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Streets and parking access will not be affected, according to the statement, and the company will coordinate with police and other town officials.

“Our job at National Grid is to connect people to the energy they use to light and heat their homes and run their businesses," Marcy Reed, president, National Grid Massachusetts said. "It’s a responsibility we take very seriously and that’s why we continually invest in our natural gas system. We are here for our customers and appreciate their patience as we make these critical improvements.”
