Outside Investigator to Audit Braintree Police Evidence

Town officials are declining to say what led to the audit.

BRAINTREE, MA — An outside investigator has been hired to conduct an audit of evidence stored at the Braintree Police Station.

Mayor Joseph Sullivan confirmed to the Patriot Ledger that the review is happening, active, and ongoing. All findings will be released to the public at the appropriate time, he said.

Sullivan and Police Chief Russell Jenkins declined to elaborate on the reason for the audit.

Town Council President Sean Powers said he wasn't aware of the audit, adding the council will likely have to wait for the investigation to be completed before the board can take action.
