Police Arrest Mattapan Man on Counterfeiting Charge

Police say Bertrobbs Lucas allegedly used fake $100 bills to buy merchandise from a South Shore Plaza store.

A Mattapan man was arrested last Monday after allegedly trying to pass a fake bill at a South Shore Plaza Store.

Bertrobbs Lucas, 22, of Mattapan, was charged with two counts of larceny, two counts of uttering counterfeit bills, and possession of counterfeit bills, according to Police Chief Russ Jenkins.

Just before 2 p.m. on Dec. 28, Officers responded to a report of a person possibly using counterfeit currency at Lord and Taylor.

Upon arrival, officers located Lucas, who matched the description given by loss prevention. During their investigation, police discovered what appeared to be several fake counterfeit $100 bills allegedly used by Lucas to buy merchandise.

Earlier in December, Lucas allegedly purchased merchandise from the store using suspected counterfeit $100 bills.

During his arrest, several suspected counterfeit $100 bills were seized by police.
