Rattlesnake Near Braintree Office Building Captured

A five-foot-long rattlesnake was removed from a bush outside an office building near the Braintree portion of the Blue Hills Reservation Wednesday.

In a video posted on Facebook, members of the State Environmental Police can be seen placing the snake in a cooler before taking it into the woods inside the reservation.

Lieutenant Scott Amati of the Environmental Police told the Boston Globe that encounters with rattlesnakes are rare, but the department have dealt with four or five since October.

This is the second snake-related incident in Braintree in less than a month. In May, a four-foot boa constrictor went missing, eventually popping up in Weymouth.
