Blue Hills Regional Technical School in Canton is offering fall classes starting in October.

Adult Cosmetology Program

Classes start monthly
Monday through Thursday 5 - 9pm
Program Duration - 1000 hours
$6500

Cosmetology is a growing profession that offers flexible employment options and unlimited career growth. The 1000-hour evening program prepares men and women with the skills and professionalism needed to succeed in Cosmetology. The class begins with 250 hours of classroom theory, demonstrations and mannequin practice. In the final 750 hours, the focus shifts to hands-on training in Blue Hills’ state-of-the-art clinic. At the conclusion of 1000 hours, students will be fully prepared to pass the state licensing exam.

Contact the Continuing Education Department to request an application packet. There is a $50 non-refundable application fee which will be credited toward the cost of the class. Tuition payment plans are available for this class.

Auto Damage Appraisal

Begins October 1
Monday and Wednesday

Instructor: Dwight Seaman

The course prepares students to take the MA Auto Appraisers License Exam. The curriculum will cover MA General Laws concerning A.D.A.L.B. repair appraisals standards for damaged vehicles.

Also included will be MA Auto Policy arbitration, direct pay, work completion forms, repair certification forms, referral programs, vehicle nomenclature, suspension and steering, air bag restraints, reading crash manuals and the actual writing of an appraisal and license application.

AutoCad 1

Begins October 1
Monday and Wednesday

Instructor: Thomas McGrath

In this introductory course, students will develop confidence in creating, editing, dimensioning and plotting CAD drawings through this hands-on class and provide individual instruction. After completing this course, students will understand command entities, CAD menu structure, geometry creation, layering, manipulation, basic dimensioning and drawing set up techniques. Thomas McGrath has been an instructor at Blue Hills for 12 years. He has been using AutoCAD for almost two decades and has experience in mechanical and architectural design.

Finish Carpentry

Begins October 1

Monday 6 - 8:30pm
(10 Evenings & 1 Saturday)
Limit 10 students
$300 plus $70 for materials
Instructor: Ryan McCarthy

Students learn the basics in Finish Carpentry including installing base board, trimming windows, hanging doors, installing crown molding and other useful applications. Also covered are cabinets, paneling, shelving, chair rail and wainscoting.

Basic Framing & House Construction

Begins October 3
Wednesday 6 - 8:30 pm
(10 evenings & 1 Saturday)
Limit 10 students
$300 plus $70 for materials
Instructor: Ryan McCarthy

Students learn the basics in House Construction including layout and hands-on construction of floors, walls, ceilings, and simple roof design. Other course content includes exterior trim, doors, windows, roofing, and side walling.

Welding Technology

Classes start October 1
Monday & Wednesday 4:30 to 7:00pm (5 weeks)
$300 plus $110 for material cost

This course is intended to teach fundamental theories, practices, and applications of the most common arc welding and cutting processes. The curriculum also addresses the safe use of oxy-acetylene equipment and various compressed industrial gases. Students with little or no background in welding, students wishing to upgrade existing skills, and students who are simply exploring the field are all accommodated.
