Suspect in Stabbing Case Charged With Assaulting Police Officers

A Braintree resident who is already facing an attempted murder charge is now accused of assaulting four police officers.

Ryan Young, 20, was arrested with a warrant from the Plymouth County Probation department on Nov 15 and charged with four counts of assault and battery on a police officer, wanton destruction of property over $250, resisting arrest.

He was arraigned in Quincy District Court on Nov. 17.

Four police officers arrived at Young’s home after receiving a warrant from the Plymouth County Probation department after Young’s GPS monitoring device went dead. After confirming that the device was dead, Young was asked to turn around and place his hands behind his back.

After an officer reached for his handcuffs, Young tired to pull away and go back inside. During a struggle between two of the officers and Young, the other two officers located in the back of the property came to the front to assist. Young was arrested after police used pepper spray to gain control of him

Prior to this weekend’s arrest, Young was charged with attempted murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon during an incident in Scituate earlier this year where Young allegedly stabbed another person in the chest. That case is still pending.
