TGI Friday's Braintree Re-Opening Next Tuesday

The restaurant at the South Shore Place has rcently been joined by Ben & Jerry's, Potbelly Sandwiches, Five Guys and other businesses.

TGI Friday's will host a Grand Re-Opening event at its Braintree location Tuesday, Sept. 17, marking the completion of several months of renovations.

The event will feature a meet and greet with company executives at 5 p.m., followed by a reception from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., with free appetizers until 7 p.m. There will also be a DJ and a cash bar.

TGI Friday's underwent a complete overhaul this summer, knocking down its inside walls, revamping its menu, moving the bar and opening its kitchen in an effort to serve more guests and attract a family-friendly crowd.

The restaurant closed and began construction in April. Its new interior layout and menu is a prototype for the national chain, one of only three restaurants in the country debuting it so far, Attorney Albert DeNapoli told Braintree officials in July.

By adding more than 50 seats and creating a four-sided bar, the restaurant brought its seat capacity to 273 and its overall capacity, including standing, to 337.

Removing the partitions that previously separated the restaurant into sections allows for a larger, open kitchen and improved sight lines so that management can better oversee the operation, DeNapoli said.
