Thayer Academy Gets First High School Quiz Show Opponent
The private school in Braintree will compete against the defending champions in the round of 16.
The quiz masters of Thayer Academy will have their work cut out for them in the High School Quiz Show’s round of 16.
WGBH announced Tuesday that the private school located in Braintree’s first opponent of the knockout round will be defending champions Advanced Math and Science Academy. The episode will be filmed during the weekend of Jan. 23 and 24 and will air on Feb. 6.
The winner will face the winner of the Feb. 13 Somerville-Action Boxborough match.

In the knockout round, the top 16 teams will to compete in a televised, single-elimination, bracketed academic tournament that will determine a state champion. The season will culminate with a Governor’s Cup Challenge when the Massachusetts champion team meets New Hampshire Public Television’s Granite State Challenge.
