Retirements and Staffing Changes
Thayer Public Library is currently experiencing a wave of retirements in our full-time staff, including both reference librarians, who teamed up to manage the Reference Department. Priscilla and Moira had almost 40 years of Reference Department experience between them.
As they work to fill librarian and support staff openings, Library Director Terri Stano and the Board of Library Trustees wish to alert the public that library services may be affected, especially those offered through the Reference Department. They request patience on behalf of library staff during this temporary shortage of staff.
Until the hiring process is complete and new staff are brought on board, the entire library staff will be working hard to minimize any effects the public may feel. Patrons may notice longer wait times than usual, as staff may be asked to provide coverage in departments where they have less experience. Fewer programs may be offered over the summer, and some programs may go on hiatus into the fall.
Library Director Terri Stano and the Board of Library Trustees acknowledge the contribution of all Thayer Public Library retirees, current and prior, and extend best wishes that all will enjoy happy, healthy retirement years.
Thank you to the Town of Braintree, the Friends of the Thayer Public Library, and the entire library community for the support the library has received over the years and continues to receive.
