Pig On The Lam Spotted Roaming Around Bridgewater: Reports

BRIDGEWATER, MA — A large pig has been roaming the city of Bridgewater, according to reports.

"Residents are on high alert this week as an unusually large pig has been wandering through town," Boston 25 reported.

"A seriously oversized pig has been hoofing it around Bridgewater this week, startling residents and turning quiet streets into an impromptu petting zoo escape scene," per hoodline. Videos posted online show someone trying to steer the hefty animal around a yard while others recorded it lumbering past homes. One social post pegged the pig’s location on High Street over the weekend, and the unexpected visitor quickly sparked a mix of jokes and worried comments across local feeds.

According to Boston Today, the pig may have been on the loose for as long as six months.

"According to Officer Jacob Gannon, the pig first escaped from a local farm in October 2025 and has been roaming the Bridgewater area ever since," the Boston Today story said.

"Despite numerous attempts to catch the pig, she has proven to be too fast and strong for the officers," according to Boston Today. "Gannon suspects the pig has dug a hole in the surrounding woods to wait out the cold weather, and with many predators in the area, her survival has been no easy task."

Just over a year ago, the nearby West Bridgewater Police Department posted to its Facebook page about a fugitive pig that looks remarkably similar to the one running around now.

"This pig is running loose in the area of South Main St.," the post said, requesting that the owner contact police dispatch.
