4th of July Safety Measures, Road Closures in Brookline

Brookline, MA – Independence Day is right around the corner, and Brookline is a popular spot for those hoping to take in the Boston Esplanade fireworks.

Larz Anderson and Summit Ave. parks are two of the best places in Brookline to view the display.

In anticipation of the crowds, Brookline Police have announced the following safety and traffic measures:

Larz Anderson Park

• The top of the park will be closed to all traffic starting at 6p.m. Any vehicles parked at the top of the park will be towed and barricades will be put into place. Only pedestrian access will be allowed to the top area starting at 6 p.m.

• People are reminded that fireworks are illegal, and alcohol is restricted in all parks. Please leave those items at home.

• Officers will be assigned to this area and will be proactively monitoring the area.

Summit Ave. Park

Starting at 6 p.m.:

• The area around Summit Ave Park will become a No Parking-Tow Away Zone

• Summit Ave will become a one-way coming from Brighton towards Beacon St. Traffic coming up Summit Ave from Beacon will be detoured at Jordan Rd/York Tr.

As with all events that draw crowds, people are asked to report anything they think is suspicious. If you see something, say something. Please help us make this a safe and enjoyable event as we celebrate the Fourth.
