Brookline Police Hiring Full-time Officers

Applicants must currently be employed as a full-time police officer in Massachusetts.

BROOKLINE, MA — The police department announced it is accepting applications for the position of full-time police officer through lateral transfer.

Applicants must currently be employed as a full-time police officer in Massachusetts and must have completed a full-time Municipal Police Training Committee-approved police academy and be POST certified. Candidates must also have at least one year of experience as a full-time officer and be in good standing with their current department. Bridge academy graduates and out-of-state applicants will not be considered.

“We are seeking officers who are proactive, community policing oriented with proven reliability and problem-solving skills,” the department said in a statement.

Brookline has a residential population of approximately 65,000 and a police department with 134 sworn officers. The department includes a number of specialty units, including detectives, K9, motorcycle, traffic, crisis intervention, and special response teams.

The salary range for Brookline patrol officers ranges from $83,159 to $133,463, depending on education level. Officers may also qualify for additional educational incentives, overtime training pay, and detail opportunities.

Interested candidates should submit a letter of interest and resume to Detective Sergeant and Officer Employment Coordinator Chris Malinn. The deadline to apply is Monday, June 15.
