Announcing Brookline Music School’s Summer Preview Days 2018

Brookline Music School (BMS) invites the community to explore its summer program options on April 8 and April 14.

During Summer Preview Days, Brookline Music School (BMS) invites the community to explore its diverse and exciting summer program options, including full- and half-day programs, weekly music classes, and private lessons. The Musical Beginnings Summer Programs Open House on April 8, 2018 from 10:00am to 1:00pm will feature programs for children up to age 9 while the Summer Ensembles and Intensive Programs Open House on April 14, 2018 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm provides students ages 10 and up the opportunity to learn about offerings for intermediate and advanced musicians.

April 8, 2018: Musical Beginnings Summer Programs Open House
Explore Brookline Music School’s summer programs for young children through 9 years of age. The morning begins at 10:00am with sample Early Childhood classes for children 4 years and younger. Additionally, portions of select Musical Adventures classes (for 3- and 4-year-olds) will be open for observation from 11:00am to 11:15am and 12:00pm to 12:15pm (space is limited, reserve in advance by calling (617) 277-4593). From 11:00am to 1:00pm learn more about summer programs for children ages 4 through 9. Visit the Instrument Petting Zoo where children can touch, tap, pluck, and play a variety of musical instruments, and take part in a musical coloring activity. BMS faculty and staff members will be available throughout the morning to provide more information and take registrations.

April 14, 2018: Summer Ensembles and Intensive Programs Open House
BMS offers a variety of options for students ages 10 and up, including programs for all musical styles from classical chamber music to jazz improvisation and rock. From 2:00pm to 4:00pm drop in to meet program faculty and have your questions answered about such programs as GuitarLab, Summer Flute Institute, Cinema Jukebox, and the Beatles Summer Project. Students are encouraged to bring their instruments and join in a fun group improvisation activity from 2:30pm to 3:00pm led by EnsembleFest faculty member Brian Friedland. The improvisation activity will be followed by a chamber music performance at 3:00pm. The afternoon will conclude with placement auditions for select programs from 4:00pm to 5:00pm.
