Boston Globe Home Delivery Fiasco: Reporters Step In to Deliver Papers
Boston Globe reporters volunteered to deliver papers after a week of problems with its new delivery service.

DORCHESTER, MA — “I woke this morning expecting to get the Boston Globe, but all I found was a bunch of turkeys.”
That tweet from @mdubnick, accompanied by a picture of wild turkeys, is just one of the messages that have been filling the social media world this week as readers of the Boston Globe vent their frustrations over not receiving their daily papers. Delivery problems, which the Globe has blamed on new delivery vendor ACI Media Group, have left many customers without their morning read. Many have surely turned to the Internet for their news, but there are still plenty who prefer holding a paper in their hands that is delivered to their doorstep.
Readers aren’t the only ones frustrated with the ongoing delivery problems. Boston Globe reporters and other staff members have been similarly frustrated that their words haven’t been reaching their intended audience. The problems became so bad that fed-up reporters descended on the company’s Newton distribution center to Sunday morning to pick up and deliver Sunday papers.

The Globe offered full refunds to customers who didn’t receive a paper. Its weekday circulation is about 115,000; on Sundays, it’s about 205,000. The company said it’s working with its new vendor to eliminate future delivery problems.
