BPD'S Missing 'SWAT Cat' Returns
The Boston Police Department adopted the cat as its mascot; the animal went missing for a month but returned safe Thursday.

ROXBURY, MA — The Boston Police Department’s beloved “SWAT cat” has returned.
The stray calico was adopted by BPD’s SWAT team in 2013 at the team’s base in Roxbury.
“(The cat) is known for greeting officers when they arrive at work, rolling over for belly rubs from the officers, and showing up for chow time with the unit,” police said in a statement. “’SWAT Cat’ could frequently be seen lounging on the warm hoods of police cruisers.”

On Thursday at about 7 a.m., the cat returned to the base on Warren Street in Roxbury.
“The SWAT Team wants to thank the community for keeping an eye out for the feline and for all the calls and emails of support,” police said in a statement. “The officers are just happy that she was safe all this time.”
