Brookline Bike Parades Through Town

Check out the video of the gang

BROOKLINE, MA — On Sunday at 12:59 p.m. bikes of all sizes and shapes lined up under the canopy of the Amory Street trees and were off a minute later to cruise Beacon Street with a police escort for the annual Brookline Bike Parade.

The bike parade is billed as New England's Largest Bike Parade, as a way to celebrate and call attention to the environmental, physical, and social benefits of bicycling, according to the Brookline Bicycle Advisory Committee who, along with the help of the Brookline Police, Parks and recreation, and the Public Works Departments run the show each year.

The route? the gang of bicycles road down Amory, took a right on Beacon, went west to Ayr Street in Cleveland Circle, crossed the tracks, headed east all the way to Saint Mary's Street, made a u-turn just before Audubon Circle, headed west again, and turned back into Amory Park as police stopped traffic and pedestrians stood and watched, some holding up cell phones to record the event.
