Brookline Firefighters Donate to Support Fire Victims

Brookline Fire Union responds again to those affected by fire at 1471 Beacon Street

The very firefighters who responded to the  came to the rescue again, but this time in the form of a donation to help the victims begin to rebuild their lives.

Surrounded by members of Group 4, Deputy Chief Keith Flaherty--who was in command at the fire, along with Captain Owen Thompson--presented a check in the amount of $500 to Dr. Alan Balsam, Director of Public Health, to be given to the .

On Martin Luther King Day, some residents of that building lost everything they owned when a fast-moving fire began in the basement and quickly raced through all four floors, at about 9 a.m. The fire went to four-alarms, forcing residents out into the bitter cold. , but for those displaced, the process of rebuilding their lives will be a long road.
