Brookline Resident Has Personal Stake in Alzheimer's Walk
Maeve Mackey lost her grandfather to the disease in May and joined the fight to ensure it doesn't take any more loved ones.

BROOKLINE, MA – For Brookline resident Maeve Mackey, this year's Greater Boston Walk to End Alzheimer's is personal.
Mackey, a first-time participant, joined the walk to honor the memory of her grandfather, who she lost to Alzheimer's in May.
"I want to do what I can to prevent this disease from taking away other people's grandparents," Mackey said in a press release.

To date, Mackey and her family members have raised close to $500 for the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's, the nation's largest event to raise awareness and funds for care, support and research.
"We are grateful to each person who makes a commitment to the Walk to End Alzheimer’s by participating, volunteering or making a donation," Jim Wessler, president/CEO of the Alzheimer’s Association, Massachusetts/New Hampshire Chapter, said in the release. "The funds raised will provide support to people impacted by Alzheimer’s, while also contributing to the research that is critical to putting an end to this disease."
