BrooklineCAN is sponsoring a workshop for seniors and their families on how to put extra space in their homes to good use. The workshop is scheduled for June 1 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the Brookline Senior Center, 93 Winchester Street. At this free event, you can learn how to put extra space in your home to work for you. Ideas will be presented by some seniors who are already doing that in various ways.
Len Fishman, a senior housing expert and Director of the Gerontology Institute at UMass Boston, will provide an overview of the possibilities. Staff of the Brookline Building, Planning, and Health Departments will be on hand with information on what the Town allows people to do with their homes and what obligations homeowners have if they rent space to others. Some Brookline seniors who are already putting extra space in their homes will illustrate some of the possibilities. The workshop is designed to stimulate thinking and provide answers to questions.
