BrooklineCAN Presents…Spring Town Election Forum April 26

(Brookline Community Aging Network)

In the May 8 Annual Town election, Brookline voters will choose two Select Board members, three School Committee members, five Library Board members, and consider ballot questions for an Override and Debt Exclusion proposals.

On Thursday, April 26, BrooklineCANs Livable Community Advocacy Committee and the BrooklineSenior Center will present an Election Forum at the Senior Center, 93 Winchester Street from 4 to 6 pm. The forum will focus on the contested races for Board of Selectmen and School Committee as well as the Override and Debt Exclusion.

Candidates will make brief opening statements and answer questions from the audience. Candidates and advocates will be asked to give special attention to senior concerns.

The Forum is free and open to all.

According to the 2010 census, 24 percent of the population of Brookline-- or 14,182 residents are over the age of 55. Town residents, between the ages of 55 and 64, have increased by 40 percent since 2000. Americas older adult populations will reach 72 million or nearly 20 percent of the population in 2030

Affiliated with the Brookline Senior Center, BrooklineCAN (Brookline Community Aging Network ) is an all-volunteer organization which enables older residents to remain independent and fully engaged in the life of the community. The organization advocates on behalf of Brooklines older residents, works with town agencies on behalf of Brooklines seniors, provides ways for members to contribute to the community, and in general acts to make Brookline an even better place to live for people of all ages.
